Energy Audits for Community Facilities

Funding Available for Energy Audits

Would your community group like 90% part-funding support towards carrying out an energy audit incorporating waste and water usage at your community facility? Monaghan Integrated Development CLG, are funding bespoke energy audits incorporating waste and water usage that will provide each participating community group with an easy to understand individual assessment of their facilities and will include an action plan.  This information will help each group make informed decisions relating to priorities for their facility in terms of energy usage, energy efficiency, alternative sources of energy, waste management and water usage.  The audit will also be a resource in applying for further funding to enhance community facilities. Each audit will include:
  • An assessment of the current energy and water usage within a building including identification of any barriers to assessment of energy and water usage and suggested solutions.
  • An assessment of insulation levels and heat loss in the building(s), and suggestions about improvements that can be made.
  • An assessment of the lighting within the building including recommendations for lighting upgrades that could be implemented.
  • An assessment of account energy and water usage patterns and the fabric of the building, including the suitability of the building for renewable energy technologies including solar panels, PV panels, air to water, rainwater harvesting and geothermal technologies, etc.
  • For all technologies recommended, groups will receive a specification for the works and an estimate cost, along with an outline of potential savings in terms of energy usage and money saved/payback period.
  • Consideration of the usage model for innovative renewable energy technology applications at community venues, e.g. electric car charge points.
  • An assessment of waste generation (nature and sources), how it is currently managed and identification of reduction opportunities and improvements that can be made.
  • An assessment of current water usage and proposed interventions to minimise water usage and opportunities to utilise waste water.

This initiative is funded 90% under the 2023-2027 LEADER Programme and each participating groups will be required to contribute 10% (€412.50) towards the cost of their individual audit.  There are only 8 places available.
