Flooding on the Monaghan Way

Safety Alert! Walkers should please be aware that parts of the Monaghan Way, including the trailhead at Annadrummond and the Toome Loop are currently impassable due to flooding after Storm Chandra.

Lough Muckno and the surrounding wetlands have hit capacity and the waters have spilled onto local roads in the area in some of the worst flooding that residents have seen in decades.

*** Update: 10/02/2026 – Flood waters have now subsided and the trail is once again accessible. However there are still areas of very muddy ground along the trail route and further rain is forecast this week so walkers should take extra care to dress for the terrain.
