Traveller Health Community Worker
Part-time Specific Purpose Contract (Maternity Cover)
Salary: €41,883
MID is now recruiting a Traveller Health Worker to provide maternity cover within its Traveller Health Programme. This role presents an ideal opportunity to gain experience in community development work.
Summary of the Role
- Supporting the planning, delivery, and evaluation of Traveller health initiatives in line with HSE and funder objectives
- Recruiting, training, and supporting a group of Travellers to become Traveller peer health support volunteers
- Facilitating training, group work, and capacity-building activities using participatory and culturally appropriate approaches
- Providing health information, advocacy, and signposting to appropriate statutory and community services
- Supporting interagency collaboration to improve Traveller access to health and social care services
A full clean driving licence and access to own transport is essential. Garda Vetting will be required prior to appointment. Traveller ethnicity and/or lived experience within the Traveller Community is desirable, but not essential. Flexible working arrangements may be available, subject to service needs.
