Economic/Enterprise Development and Job Creation – LEADER funding call

The LEADER Rural Development Programme (RDP) 2014-2020 for County Monaghan is open and we are announcing details regarding funding supports available under the Enterprise Development sub-theme. Following a recent change in our LEADER programme operating rules, this funding is now available on a rolling basis until the budgets are exhausted.

1.1 To provide capital assistance for start-up and expansion of SME’s €375,000
1.2 To stimulate the development of the rural economy in the County with a focus on
supporting technology based enterprises (existing and start-ups).

2.2 To provide capital assistance towards development of social enterprise projects €200,000


Entrepreneurs from County Monaghan are invited to submit ‘expressions of interest’ for funding. Upon receipt of a completed ‘expression of interest’ form a development officer will contact you. If your proposed project is eligible, you will be invited to the full LEADER application stage. You can download the ‘expression of interest’ form here.

Funding is available for enterprise start-ups, existing enterprises and social entrepreneurs for projects across a range of sectors including digital technology, green economy and social enterprise. Projects providing services to the agriculture, forestry and equine sectors are also eligible to be considered at a 50% grant rate along with projects in the artisan food, arts, craft and design sectors. Social enterprises may be entitled to apply for up to 75% funding for proposed projects subject to a number of conditions.
