HSE Traveller Health Project
The Irish Traveller community experiences serious health inequalities relative to the general population, including shorter lifespans, higher suicide rates, higher infant mortality, and an increased likelihood of death from cardiovascular or respiratory diseases.
Our Traveller Community Health Development Worker is working with the community to try to address these inequalities. A research project is underway to establish the need for a Traveller primary healthcare project in Co. Monaghan and identify ways to improve health outcomes for Travellers.
