Sustainable Energy Community

The County Monaghan SEC was established with the vision to increase awareness across the county in households, businesses, and organisations of their contribution towards carbon emissions. The SEC launched an Energy Master Plan for Monaghan in 2022, which examines the energy supply and demand in the county and identifies opportunities for improving energy efficiency and moving towards more renewable energy sources.

The SEC also helps to organise information events such as the Home Energy Upgrades Expo to provide information to homeowners about ways to improve home energy efficiency, including details about available SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) grants for retrofitting houses with upgrades such as insulation, solar and ground-to-air heating systems.
